The mobile app
The Infotech School app puts the day-to-day school on the phone. Teachers take attendance and enter marks from the classroom, guardians follow their children and pay fees, and students see their homework and results. It runs on Android and iPhone and uses the same accounts as the web app, so nobody needs a second sign-in. Office work such as setting up classes, fees or exams stays on the web app.
Signing in
Open the app and choose Staff or Guardian or student.
- Staff type the School code, Email and Password, then the authenticator code if two-step verification is on.
- Guardians and students type the School code and Mobile number and choose Send code. The 6-digit SMS code works for 5 minutes.
The rules are the same as on the web; see Signing in and accounts. On the first sign-in the app shows Terms and privacy; choose I agree to go on.
Note: If the school requires two-factor sign-in and a staff member has not set it up yet, the app shows Set up two-factor sign-in. Turn it on in the web app under Settings › Security, then sign in to the app again.
The app opens in the school's own colours once you have signed in (see Branding).
The four tabs
| Tab | Shows |
|---|---|
| Home | A greeting, quick links and the latest notifications |
| Children (guardians), My school (students) or Classes (staff) | The school part, which depends on who you are |
| Notifications | Everything the school sent you, with an unread count |
| Profile | Your account, How you sign in, Language, Appearance (Light, Dark or Auto) and Sign out |
What a teacher sees
The Classes tab (My classes) lists your sections, class-teacher sections first, with the subjects you take. If it is empty, the office has not yet made you a class or subject teacher.
- Open a section to see its students by roll number. Take attendance marks the day; tap a guardian's phone number to copy it.
- My routine, Leave requests and Exam marks are at the top of the tab.
- On Home, quick buttons appear for what your role allows: Today's classes, Give homework and Write diary (with Homework and LMS in the plan), Pickup gate for staff who check who collects a child, My trips for drivers, and Visitors for gate security.
No signal in the classroom? Attendance and marks are kept on the phone: "Saved on this phone. It will be sent when you are online."
See Attendance, Mark entry and Homework and diary.
What a guardian sees
The Children tab (My children) shows each child with photo, class, section, roll and class teacher. If no children appear, the school office has not yet linked them to your mobile number.
Open a child for Attendance, Routine, Results, Fees, Homework, Class diary, Study materials, Today's classes, Pickup and Leave applications.
- Fees shows what is due and lets you pay by bKash, Nagad or card when the school has set up online payment; otherwise it says "Online payment is not set up: please pay at the school office." Receipts stay in the app. See Online fee payment.
- Pickup lists who may collect your child from school. See Child pickup.
- Leave applications lists your child's leave and has Apply for leave, with the Dates and a Reason. The class teacher sees it under Leave requests.
What a student sees
The My school tab shows the student's own record. If it is empty, the student should ask the office to add their mobile number to their record. Quick links on Home lead to homework, class diary, study materials, fees, online tests and more.
Quick links and modules
Guardians and students see a quick link only when the school's plan includes that module:
| Quick link | Needs |
|---|---|
| Homework, Class diary, Today's classes, Study materials | Homework and LMS |
| Fees | Fees |
| Online tests | Exams |
| School bus | Transport |
| Library books | Library |
| Hostel | Hostel |
| Pickup | Guardians only |
| Conduct | Always |
Notifications
Absence alerts, leave decisions, substitute classes, notices and results arrive in Notifications and as push notifications when the phone allows them. Push messages are free; a family that uses the app can get absence alerts by push instead of SMS, which saves the school SMS credit. See Notifications and message log.
Infotech console accounts
The app is for school staff, guardians and students. If someone signs in with an Infotech console account, the app shows Use the web console and a button Open the web console, which opens the console in the browser.
Example
A morning at Green Valley School. At 8:10 Nasima Akter opens Classes, picks Class Six A and takes attendance. Arif's guardian, Rahima Begum, can see under Children › Arif › Attendance that he is present; the guardian of a child marked absent gets an alert. In the evening Rahima opens Children › Arif › Fees, sees the monthly tuition fee of 1,500 Taka due, and pays it by bKash. The receipt appears under Receipts.
